About The Role

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours

Location: Head Office, Nottingham (hybrid working, 2 days a week onsite)

Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 

Due to internal development, we have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Senior Oracle Developer to join our Technology & Transformation team!

We are a leading Building Society heavily investing in technology and our new strategy as we align the Society to our new purpose to transform our business for the future.

Using your PL/SQL skills you will support us to develop robust and scalable code. This is a great opportunity for a Developer who enjoys being hands-on with Oracle PL/SQL transactional development. We’re looking for someone curious and positive with a growth mindset – strong problem-solving skills paired with your PL/SQL coding skills is essential to be successful in this role.

You will join a warm and supportive team in a Society fighting to do great things for our members and customers. You will join as a senior team member and will have the opportunity to use your experience and knowledge to mentor and coach developing team members in the wider team.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll be doing as a Senior Oracle Developer at The Nottingham: -

  • You will design, develop and maintain Oracle databases using PL/SQL Developer and related tools and defined development standards
  • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design solutions ensuring alignment with broader organisational objectives
  • Optimize performance of Oracle databases and applications and write complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Support the testing team and unit test you code
  • Adopt and use Service management processes and tools for change management
  • Provide second line support of the applications and packages
  • Share knowledge, experience and best practice standards with a focused drive on continuous improvement
  • Mentor and support developing team members, demonstrating role model behaviours and approaches

What we’re looking for: -

  • High standard of experience programming in Oracle SQL & PL/SQL
  • Experience optimising oracle databases
  • Strong knowledge of techniques and best practice used in the development lifecycle and change management skills.
  • A logical thinker having a high problem-solving capability
  • A committed, collaborative team player
  • A drive for continuous improvement and a willingness to be open to new practices/technologies
