You'll gain hands-on experience across key finance activities including purchase ledger, cash management, reconciliations and financial reporting, while supporting the delivery of accurate, timely and insightful financial information.

Key Responsibilities
Here’s a taste of what you will be doing as a Trainee Management Accountant at Nottingham Building Society:
- Financial Control & Reconciliations – Support and take ownership of reconciliations, journal postings and general ledger accuracy, ensuring compliance with financial controls and policies.
- Month-End & Reporting – Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Analysis & Business Support – Provide reporting, analysis and ad-hoc support to the Financial Controller and wider Finance team.
- Process Improvement – Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls and enhance reporting efficiency through automation and continuous improvement.
- Digital & AI Adoption – Utilise approved digital and AI-enabled tools to support reporting, analysis and process documentation, validating outputs for accuracy and compliance.
- Data Quality & Governance – Maintain high standards of data quality and ensure appropriate governance is applied to financial and AI-assisted outputs.
- Cross-Functional Exposure – Support Purchase Ledger and Cash Book activities while gaining broader experience across FP&A, Treasury and Regulatory Reporting.
- Professional Development – Progress towards an ACCA or CIMA qualification whilst building technical, commercial and finance leadership skills.
About You
- Finance Knowledge – Strong Excel skills and confidence using finance systems, with an interest in financial reporting, analysis and treasury activities.
- Attention to Detail – High levels of numerical accuracy and a methodical approach to delivering quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Organisation & Prioritisation – Able to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively during peak reporting periods.
- Communication & Collaboration – Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work effectively across teams.
- Problem Solving & Analysis – Confident analysing information, resolving issues and identifying the drivers behind financial performance.
- Digital & AI Mindset – Comfortable adopting new technologies and using digital and AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve productivity and decision-making.

- Growth & Development – Some finance experience is desirable, with a commitment to studying towards ACCA/CIMA and continuously developing your skills and knowledge.
